Issued 29th June 2010

Wicklow County Tourism is delighted to announce that it will be holding its annual fundraising Golf Classic this year on Friday, 17th September 2010 in the beautiful surroundings of Powerscourt Golf Club.

Teams will be competing again this year for the crystal perpetual Wicklow Tourism Golf Classic Trophy, which was launched at last year’s event.

Chairman Tom Fortune encouraged teams to sign up as early as possible to play for this wonderful prize. “The Wicklow Tourism Perpetual Golf Trophy is a beautiful prize and we are urging teams to sign up as early as possible to avoid disappointment. The Golf Classic is a wonderful day out with a wide selection of prizes to be won.”

The sparkling cut-glass piece was designed and made by Wicklow Crystal and will be presented to the winning team by Wicklow County Tourism Chairman Tom Fortune. The Wicklow Enterprise Centre team claimed the prize at last year’s event, which was enjoyed by all and raised vital funds to continue the work of Wicklow County Tourism to promote the Garden County.

The Golf Classic champions will keep the trophy for a year and will have their names inscribed on a special plaque. There will also be a host of other wonderful prizes to be won on the day. To enter your team into this year’s special event, please call Wicklow County Tourism on 0404 20070 or email info@visitwicklow.ie for more information. Cost per team of four is just €400 and this includes a three course evening dinner.

If you cannot put a team in on the day, but would still like to support Wicklow Tourism, you can do so by sponsoring a tee.

Chairman Tom Fortune would like to thank participants, sponsors and members for their continued support. “All monies made from the Golf Classic will go towards promoting Wicklow as a top tourist attraction in the months ahead and help boost visitor numbers to our beautiful county.”
